About the Concert

The Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Pretoria (UP), Professor Francis Petersen, invites you to our 2026 Principal's Concert, which for the first time will benefit UP's Degrees Delivered campaign that helps deserving graduates access their degree certificates by raising funds to settle historical student debt.

This year's concert brings together three of UP's flagship performing ensembles, the UP Symphony Orchestra, Tuks Camerata and the UP Ovuwa Cultural Ensemble, in collaboration with Mzansi Ballet for a new staging of The Gold Rhino of Mapungubwe – The Ballet.

Few stories resonate more deeply with UP than that of Mapungubwe. As custodian of the internationally recognised Mapungubwe Collection and Archive, the University plays an important role in preserving and sharing the legacy of one of Africa's earliest kingdoms.

Degrees Delivered

The University of Pretoria (UP) has officially launched the Degrees Delivered campaign, a three-year fundraising initiative that aims to unlock opportunities for graduates whose qualifications remain inaccessible because of outstanding historical student debt.

The campaign seeks to raise R50 million between 2026 and 2028 to help clear historical debt for qualifying graduates, allowing them to access their degree certificates and pursue employment, professional registration or further study.

All proceeds from tickets and merchandise will go towards the Degrees Delivered campaign. Should you want to make an additional donation, please click on the button below.
