Event Terms and Conditions
1. No under 18's will be permitted.
2. All VIP invitations/tickets are non-transferrable and cannot be shared.
3. Tickets can only be purchased via this website. You will not be able to buy any tickets on the days of the concert.
4. All tickets purchased are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.
5. Tickets will be issued to the email and cellphone number provided by the individual redeeming/purchasing the ticket(s). It is the onus of this individual to share the ticket(s) with the attending parties.
6. Only food and drink purchased at our onsite restaurants will be allowed. Please note that no food or drink is allowed in the Aula Theatre.
7. Tickets must be produced upon arrival in order to check-in and be admitted. You will not be allowed to attend the concert if you are not able to produce your ticket or we cannot verify your ticket redemption/purchase.
8. The University of Pretoria reserves the right to refuse admission or remove any person whose behaviour may compromise the safety, security or enjoyment of others; or who does not comply with the event terms and conditions, the Photography and videography clause and the Weapons-Free Policy. Right of admission reserved.
9. Any person who causes damage to property will be asked to leave and will be liable for associated costs.
10. Attending the concert implies that you have read and consent to our Photography and videography clause and Weapons-Free Policy.Merchandise1. Merchandise can only be purchased via this website. You will not be able to buy any merchandise on the days of the concert.
2. All merchandise purchased are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.
3. You will only be able to collect any merchandise purchased from 16:00 on the days of the concert (7 & 8 October) at the Musaion Glass Foyer on the Hatfield Campus.
4. Invoices must be produced in order to collect your merchandise.
5. Invoices for merchandise purchased will be issued to the email and cellphone number provided by the individual purchasing the merchandise.
6. Merchandise is limited and is subject to availability.Viewing the Mapungubwe Collection and Archive1. Viewing will only be from 16:00 to 18:00 on both nights (7 & 8 October).
2. No food and drink will be allowed inside the Old Arts Building.
3. Do not touch any of the displays or artefacts.
Refund Policy
Effective for Principal's Concert 2026 ticket and merchandise purchases made through this website and processed via our accredited payment partners (iKhokha, Ozow, PayFast, PayGate).1. Event TicketsTickets purchased for the Principal's Concert 2026 are sold for this specific event and are not refundable or exchangeable once payment has been confirmed save as set out hereafter. A purchaser may cancel a ticket booking before the date of the concert, subject to the University being entitled to impose a reasonable cancellation charge as permitted in terms of section 17 of the Consumer Protection Act No 68 of 2008. The amount of any cancellation charge will be determined by having regard to the circumstances of the cancellation and applicable law.
You will be entitled to a full refund, or, at your election, a credit or transfer to an alternative date, if:
- the event is cancelled by the organiser and not rescheduled;
- the event is postponed or its date/time is materially changed, and you are unable to attend on the rescheduled date; or
- you were charged in error, for example where a duplicate transaction occurred, provided that you notify us as soon as reasonably possible so that the transaction can be investigated and corrected.
Cancellation requests submitted before 1 October 2026 will be subject to a 10% cancellation fee. Cancellations received thereafter will be subject to a 20% cancellation fee, in accordance with Section 17 of the Consumer Protection Act.
Nothing in this Policy is intended to exclude, limit, or modify any right or remedy available to a consumer in terms of the Consumer Protection Act or other applicable law.2. MerchandiseMerchandise purchased through this website is subject to the rights and remedies afforded to consumers in terms of the Consumer Protection Act No 68 of 2008. If merchandise supplied to you is defective, damaged, unsafe or does not materially correspond with what was ordered, you may exercise the remedies available to you in terms of the said Act, including, where applicable, repair, replacement or refund.
Except where merchandise is defective, damaged, incorrectly supplied or where a return, replacement or refund is otherwise required by law, merchandise may not be returned or exchanged merely because the purchaser thereof has changed their mind. Personalised or made-to-order merchandise may not be returned or exchanged unless it is defective, damaged, incorrectly supplied or a return or other remedy is required in terms of applicable law.3. How to Request a RefundTo request the cancellation of a ticket booking, or a return or refund where permitted in terms of this Refund Policy or applicable law, please submit a request via our contact form, and provide your order number together with the reason for your request.

This Privacy Policy explains how personal information submitted through this website, for Principal's Concert 2026 ticket and merchandise purchases, VIP registration, and event check-in, is collected, used, and protected, in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).1. Who We AreThe University of Pretoria is the responsible party in respect of personal information for purposes of the Principal’s Concert 2026, as contemplated in the Protection of Personal Information Act No 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Certain service providers involved in connection with issuing of the tickets, processing of payments and communications regarding the event, may process personal information on behalf of, or in connection with the University, subject to applicable law.2. Information We CollectDepending on how you interact with this site, we may collect: your name, surname, title, email address, and mobile or WhatsApp number; ticket, seat, and merchandise selections; a delivery address, if you choose mailed merchandise; dietary or accessibility requirements you choose to share; and payment confirmation references from our payment partners. Payment information required to process a transaction is submitted to and processed through the applicable payment service provider. The University does not itself intend to collect or store payment card details through this website.3. Why We Collect ItWe will not use your personal information for direct marketing unrelated to the event, unless we have an appropriate legal basis to do so and where required, have obtained your consent. Where applicable, direct marketing communications will provide an appropriate mechanism to opt out of further communications.4. Who We Share It WithWe may share personal information, to the extent reasonably necessary, with service providers engaged in connection with the event, including providers of ticketing and event-management systems, payment services, email, SMS and WhatsApp communications and related technical services. The University does not sell, rent, or otherwise trade personal information to third parties.5. SecurityThe University will implement appropriate, reasonable technical and organizational measures to safeguard personal information against loss, damage, unauthorized destruction, unlawful access or unauthorized processing, having regard to the provisions of POPIA. Service providers processing personal information in connection with the event will be required to maintain appropriate security measures applicable to the services that they provide. Payment card data is handled entirely within the University’s payment gateways and own secure, PCI-compliant environments.6. RetentionPersonal information will be retained for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or subsequently processed, subject to applicable legal, financial, audit and/or record retention requirements and policies of the University. Thereafter, the information will be securely deleted, destroyed or anonymized in accordance with applicable law and University policies.7. Your RightsSubject to POPIA and other applicable law, you have the right to request access to the personal information held about you; request the correction or deletion of inaccurate, irrelevant, out of date, incomplete, misleading or unlawfully obtained personal information; object to certain processing of your personal information, subject to University legal retention obligations; and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.8. Shipping & Delivery Policy
1. TicketsTickets are digital. Once your payment is confirmed, your ticket, with its QR code, is delivered electronically by email and/or WhatsApp — there is no physical shipping for tickets. If you do not receive your ticket within a few minutes of payment, please check your spam and promotions folders. If it is still not there, use the "Having trouble with your ticket or invoice?" link at the bottom of any page on this site and we will re-send it.2. Merchandise — collection onlyMerchandise purchased through this website is collected in person. We do not post or deliver merchandise.
- Collection point: the collection table beside check-in at the concert venue.
- Collection time: from 16:00 on the day of the concert you are attending.
- What to bring: your ticket. We match it to your order — there is nothing else to print or show.
- Collection Cost: collection is free. There are no delivery or handling charges.
- Collection dates: 7 & 8 October 2026
Purchasers must produce their order confirmation or invoice, whether electronically or in printed format, to enable the University to verify the merchandise order.
No delivery or handling charge applies to merchandise collected at the event.
If you have bought merchandise but are attending on a different day from the date you selected, or are unable to attend, you may contact the University by using the link at the bottom of this page before the event, whereafter the necessary reasonable arrangements will be made.3. Uncollected merchandiseMerchandise not collected at the concert will be retained for a period of 30 days after the event. Purchasers must contact the University during this period to arrange for collection.
Merchandise remaining uncollected after the lapsing of the 30-day period, may be disposed of or otherwise dealt with by the University, subject to applicable law. This provision does not intend to limit any rights that a consumer may have in terms of the Consumer Protection Act No 68 of 2008, or other applicable law.4. Damaged or incorrect itemsPurchasers are encouraged to inspect merchandise at the collection point before leaving the venue and to notify staff immediately if an item is visibly damaged or does not correspond with the item ordered. Where stock is available, the University may replace the item at the collection point, or arrange a refund of that item.
Failure to identify a defect or other problem at the time of collection does not however, limit any rights or remedies that a consumer may have in terms of the Consumer Protection Act No 68 of 2008.
Photography & Videography
Photography, videography and audio recording will take place during the Principal’s Concert 2026. This Notice explains how photographs, video recordings, audio recordings and other media captured during the event may be used by the University of Pretoria
By attending the Principal’s Concert 2026, you acknowledge photography, videography and audio recording will take place during the event and that your image, voice or likeness may be incidentally captured.
Use of captured material: Any media captured as described above may be used by the University of Pretoria for educational, promotional, archival and other legitimate purposes deemed appropriate by the University. The captured material may be used on various media channels, such as official University websites, social media platforms, print material, publications, presentations, and other marketing and communication initiatives. If you have any reservations about your image, voice or likeness being captured for these purposes, kindly ensure that you avoid any areas where videography and photography are taking place, and be aware of the fact that filming will be taking place and that photographers will be on the premises for the event, specifically for this purpose.
Waiver of compensation: Attendees will not be entitled to payment, compensation or royalties related to the lawful use of material captured by the University. You understand that usage of the material will be for the benefit of UP and its educational mission.
Retention and distribution: The University of Pretoria will retain the captured material in accordance with its policies and legal obligations. The University may also share this material with affiliated institutions, government agencies, accrediting bodies and other third parties as reasonably required or prescribed by law where reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Notice, subject to applicable data protection requirements.
Right to object: If you do not wish your identifiable image, voice or likeness to be used by the University, you may notify the event organisers at the event or contact Laverne Gardner in writing at laverne.gardner@up.ac.za specifying the captured media and its use. The University will make a reasonable effort to limit the further use of identifiable material in relation to that person. Where material has already lawfully been published or distributed, it should be acknowledged that complete withdrawal or removal may not always be practically possible.
Weapons-Free Policy
While the University acknowledges the right of individuals to possess weapons for the purpose of self-defence, weapon sport or official duties (SAPS and armed private security companies), it was declared a firearm-free zone by the Minister of Safety and Security.
No person will be allowed to bring onto campus or the premises of the University, a firearm, ammunition, explosives, explosive devices or any other dangerous or potentially dangerous weapon or object ('weapon'), or to be in possession or control of such a weapon or to store it on the University's premises.
For the purposes of this policy, weapons will include all firearms as defined in the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000. Dangerous weapons as defined in the Dangerous Weapons Act 71 of 1968, as any object other than a firearm, capable of causing death or inflicting serious bodily harm, if it were used for an unlawful purpose, as well as, without limitation, explosive devices and objects such as potato guns and/or paintball guns, spears, swords, knives or any object that can be utilised with the express object of threatening or hurting another person.
