About the concert

This year's concert brings together the University of Pretoria Symphony Orchestra, Tuks Camerata, and the UP Ovuwa Cultural Ensemble, in collaboration with Mzansi Ballet, for a new staging of The Gold Rhino of Mapungubwe — inspired by one of South Africa's most significant archaeological discoveries.

Few stories resonate more deeply with the University than that of Mapungubwe. As custodian of the internationally recognised Mapungubwe Collection and Archive, the University plays an important role in preserving and sharing the legacy of one of Africa's earliest kingdoms — brought to life here through music, dance, and theatre.

Degrees Delivered

All proceeds from this concert go toward helping graduates settle historical student debt so they can access their degree certificates. Every ticket makes a real difference.
